Cannot reorder images

Working on putting some images in the proper order in which they appear in the archival documents and I’m having trouble editing the order. I use the three bar cursor on the side to drag the document into its correct place and then save it, but when I go to another image in the document set it switches back to the wrong order. Not sure if this is my error, but wanted to throw it out there.

Hi Jack. I have tried but cannot reproduce this bug. Could you please give some more information, as outlined here?

Hi Jon,
Seems to be working alright now. Sorry for the false alarm and thank you for your help.

Hi! I uploaded a large file of documents (800 + images). This is a new folder with which I am working and, as is, the documents are organized in their natural order in their folder. However, when I uploaded the photos to Leo, they appeared in order of upload and not the file name. So, 1939.JPG precedes 1727.JPG on Leo, when in the folder on my computer, 1939.JPG precedes 1940.JPG. I realize that I could sit down and manually reorganize these all. But, this would take a long time. Is there a way or option in which Leo could do this for me, using alphabetical or numerical order to filter and reorganize? I am on a Mac, using Safari 18.3. Thank you!

Hi Becca, thanks for the report! The intended behaviour is that the upload order always matches the order on your computer. I’ve now been able to replicate an issue, in which the ‘chosen’ order (on step 1/2 in the popup) is out of order compared to the order in the local folder.

We haven’t seen images they appear in order of upload – let me know if you do or if it might instead be what I describe above (which could be easy to miss).

I’ve added this to our list to fix ASAP.

It’s a good idea to add some kind of quick sorting mechanism. I’ll add this to the longer-term roadmap. Thanks again!

@Jack_Casey if you see this issue again, could you please refresh the page and see if your updated ordering is restored, and then let us know? This will help us disambiguate whether the issue is the local state (i.e. the app gets out of sync with the database) or with the database state (i.e. it doesn’t register your request to update the order). Thanks in advance!

Hi Jack,
Yes will do!

Hi @Jack
Following up here – the images appear to be in order of upload. It seems that there was some sort of network and/or upload issue. I wonder if it got messed up due to the high volume of documents in the local folder?
I will try to upload a smaller folder soon and see if this occurs again!
Thank you!

@Becca_Aponte, to be clear: there’s definitely a bug here! I can reproduce it on my side. It’s intermittent so it doesn’t always happen. We’ll get it fixed ASAP

Hi Becca and Jack,
I tried this again and Leo does upload the pictures in order from your computer, but the issue is when you want to reorder them. I drag the picture into the order I want and it says that it has saved the image order but then reverts it back to the original. Let me know if this is an issue you experience too!
Thanks,
Jack

Thanks for following up on this Jack! I’ve now managed to reproduce this.

If you reorder images in the document view and then click on another image, occasionally (maybe 1 in 10 times on my machine/network), the image ordering appears to revert. It doesn’t actually revert (if you refresh the browser then the correct order will be shown) but we have a frontend state management issue so it displays incorrectly, probably due to a race condition. This occurs even if you wait until after the success toast popup before clicking on another image.

I’ve added this to our list of bugs to fix, apologies for the annoying behaviour! We’ll let you know once this is addressed

Just to let you know that I’ve run into this issue too with a pdf I uploaded. Glad to hear a page refresh resolves the issue!
