I’d like to suggest a change to the current version history functionality. Being able to visualize changes between versions (color diff) would help user to see their previous edits in comparison with the AI transcription. Currently users can only restore the original AI transcription, losing their changes.
Hey Bruno. We’re planning (as a longer-term prospect) to have some collaborative Wiki-like editing tools so that teams can work on editing transcriptions together. That’s a major update though so we could potentially update the version history feature in the meantime. I’m guessing you’re imagining something like Diffchecker. Could you talk me through where this would fit into your workflow?
Hi Jon, sounds good. I agree that the main benefit of version history is
tracking the changes of multiple collaborators, so saving that for later seems fine (FromThePage has a similar feature). In my current workflow, I’d like to see a clear distinction between AI-generated transcriptions and my own edits, so I can compare my changes. I don’t need to track every granular edit (like in git), just the current edited version in comparison with the AI-generated transcription.
Ah I see. It shouldn’t be too difficult to create a modal with a side-by-side comparison when you click the version history button. If that’s what you’re thinking?
Just to say, I was going to suggest something similar. Some form of ‘track changes’ would be great, so as well as a finalised corrected transcription, it would be possible to see what edits had been made and to compare between the corrected and AI version. This would also be helpful for identifying consistent transcription errors.
I very much agree! At a minimum, one should be able to see the original AI transcription without losing one’s edits.
