Leo does not seem very happy about transcribing our royal charters. I’ve included an image here as an example of how much I had to correct Leo’s transcription of a charter dating 1610 (I do not pretend to be an experienced transcriber, but even I was able to pick up a significant number of errors). In another charter transcription, it just decided to stop halfway and repeat the same phrase over and over!
A full list of the errors I picked up on this example:

• Rex was several times transcribed as per
• Cannot always distinguish u from n or sometimes a
• Abbreviation orum becomes que
• Q becomes g
• Missed some words
• Nec transcribed as ut in several places
• Did not transcribe messuage correctly in multiple places – quite a common word!
• Didn’t always pick up abbreviations
• Didn’t always use square brackets for abbreviations
• T becomes s
• Missed a large chunk out of the middle
• N becomes R
• A often became ot
• Sometimes added random phrases or words like justificat at the end
