Leo inconsistently transcribed the historic long ‘s’.
This was something I also experienced. For some manuscripts the transcription was fine but in others it regularly transcribed the long ‘s’ as an ‘l’. This combined with antiquated or inaccurate spellings made some aspects of the recipes difficult to understand at first reading. For example, ‘pint bason’ (basin) was being transcribed as ‘balon’ which had me very confused at first! Also to ‘set’ and ‘let’ a dish by the fire mean two different things.
