I think it would be useful for the current and future users to have a “guide” option that appears when first using Leo and that could be summoned when needed. I feel like many features are quite intuitive, like uploading images, metadata, transcription features, etc.; however, some features are not as intuitive. At first, I thought that after uploading images to a list, we cannot add any more images there, then I realised I can upload another “group” of images into the same list. Finally, I found a “+” symbol that allows adding images to a group of images uploaded together to a list. It is possible that many people may not use the full potential of Leo, because they simply don’t know all of the features.
We’re planning to introduce an initial onboarding process to guide the user through our features. This will undoubtedly become more important as we add more features to the app, so we were also considering adding a little chatbot (maybe Leo the lion? A bit like Clippy, the Microsoft Office paperclip, but more interactive) so that the user can ask for support with quick things like this.
A product tour is now available on Leo v0.2.1!
Having a user manual and tips and suggestions for how to best prepare your images beforehand for easy and efficient uploading, especially if you have a large project or are a user who wants to streamline the uploading process. For example, providing list of the required and optional Leo metadata fields when uploading images.
