Exporting UTF-8 .txt files

Hello,

Am I the only one who would like to be able to export a plain old text file?? A search turned up no mention of this. The AI Chat says “we want to maintain formatting . . so we offer HTML”. Nice. Great. I just want a plain old text file to use as metadata for early 20th century letters written in Cursive. Not much formatting going on in letters written from the trenches in France during WWI. Oh yeah, and highlighting/ marking “guessed” words would be kinda nice too.

Thank you

Hi John, welcome to Leo, and thank you for these suggestions!

TXT is coming back - you’re right that in many cases like trench correspondence there’s no formatting to preserve, and HTML just gets in the way if you’re feeding transcriptions into a metadata pipeline. It was removed on the assumption HTML covered the same ground but that’s clearly not true for every case. I’ve added it to our to-do list and it shouldn’t take long.

Hghlighting low-confidence words needs changes to the transcription model itself, so it’s a longer road, but it’s on our development horizon. We’re actively working on the next version of the model so this will be rolled into the next release.

Please do post if anything else comes up while you’re using the app. This kind of feedback is extremely helpful as we keep improving Leo.
