Allowing for the copy to clipboard and/or download as a plaintext file of the complete transcription of all images in a given item (a single button that pulls the transcription from every image and merges them) would be very helpful. For instance I want to aggregate the combined transcribed texts of around 50 pages from the same manuscript and am having to select and copy each of the individual pages, it would save a lot of time to click a single button to do that.

Thanks for this Ben. I definitely agree that this is a key feature that’s missing at the moment.
I’ve been thinking through how the UI might work. What I’m imagining is that on the left panel in the item view, where the “Metadata” and “Images” blocks currently appear, there would be an additional block at the top, that says something like “Summary” or “Overview”. What we could do is add an AI-generated summary of the entire item there and beneath it a link to enter “reading mode” or to “view whole transcript”, where you could see the transcripts for the entire item as a continuous stream of text. It’d also be possible for us to display annotations on that screen, so that the user can see everything in one place.
This might take a little while to develop. On the next release, the export function should work for transcripts and so it should be easier for you to collate these as a single file. In the meantime, it’d be great to hear any thoughts about what the optimal user experience would be.
I agree with this-- it would make a huge difference is the ability to copy or export all transcriptions from each page of a document or file at once. Right now, copying page by page is very time-consuming for large collections. Having a single-click “Copy All” or “Export All Text” option for a document would streamline the workflow enormously for users handling multi-page files.
Also, I would love to see a built-in translation feature for foreign-language transcriptions—especially for related European languages like French and German. If that capability already exists, I wasn’t able to locate it, but it would be an incredible addition for researchers who work with multilingual archives. Even a simple integration with an existing translation API or a side-by-side “translate text” option would be extremely useful.

Hi Danielle, this feature has been implemented. You can now export all the transcripts associated with a given item into a single text file. Just select all the images in the modal that appears when you press the export button.
We’re thinking through text interpretation features very carefully. Stay tuned!
