Version 0.3.1 released

Release notes: version 0.3.1

This release includes an array of new features designed to make Leo as easy and quick as possible to use, as well as several smaller bug fixes

Major changes

  • Leo is now better optimized for mobile phones, iPads, and narrower desktops, in addition to wider desktops
  • Improved PDF processing with a new mode: convert each page of a PDF into an image, rather than extract each embedded image
  • Improved loading times, especially for documents with many images
  • Refined batch controls, including; selecting groups of documents in the dashboard view using the shift key; reordering multiple images at a time using drag and drop; copying and moving images from one document to another using options in the image dropdown menus or by dragging images
  • Introduced image list pagination tool for renaming images in page style (p. 1, p. 2, …) or folio style (fol. 1v, fol. 1r, …), with support for double spreads
  • Introduced ability to sort images by name and send images to the top or the bottom of the list
  • Renamed “Items” to “Documents” and “Lists” to “Folders” for a more intuitive user experience

Minor changes

  • Introduced expandable thumbnails in list of images to upload when creating a new document or adding images to an existing document
  • Introduced new keyboard shortcuts: M for toggling the metadata panel in the dashboard and document views and F for toggling the folder pane (at narrower desktop widths when it collapses)
  • Improved the loading time for the dropdown search by showing fewer results (until you press “Enter” to see the full results)
  • Updated the dashboard table sorting so that the sort applies to all results, not just the results on the current page
  • Updated URL parameters to include folder IDs, tab IDs and table sorting fields/page numbers to improve browser navigation and bookmarking
  • Updated popups and buttons throughout the app to have more consistent formatting
  • Improved the look and feel of the app when documents have no images and when the user has no documents
  • Improved “Discovery” prompts by specifying that their output should always be in English
  • Enabled inline renaming of folders by double clicking on the folder name
  • Added the ability to change payment method through the user profile menu in the top right corner
  • Allowed any transcription tabs to be used as an input to the “Interpolation” transformation
  • Allowed tabs to be renamed to a title that already exists in other images’ tabs
  • Allowed documents in the dashboard view to be selected in batches using the shift key
  • Allowed all transcription, transformation, and export commands to be used both for single-image and batched image actions, with a popup to disambiguate
  • Made it possible to close all popup windows either by clicking outside the popup or by pressing the “Esc” key
  • Made the “Title” field optional when creating a new document. If left blank, it will call the new document e.g. “Untitled 4”
  • Removed unnecessary “toast” popups for routine operations
  • Reduced time taken to delete images and documents
  • Reduced clutter in the document view by dynamically moving some HTML controls to a dropdown menu for narrower screens, and moving the “Flag” and “Version history” options into a dropdown underneath the tab pane
  • Hid the task panel icon when there are no active tasks

Bug fixes

  • Fixed issue where the user cannot export documents that contain an image that failed to upload
  • Fixed issue where exporting large numbers of images fails with status code 400
  • Fixed issue where certain kinds of tables led to an app crash with “Something went wrong”
  • Fixed various issues where tabs don’t appear, cannot be selected, or display the wrong in-progress state
  • Fixed issue where it was possible to end up with no primary tab for an image by renaming the primary tab
  • Fixed issue where very long folder names would break the layout of the folder panel
  • Fixed issue where shared items could not be copied
  • Fixed issue with some dropdowns appearing behind popups
  • Fixed issue where credits for users on the free plan were not always refreshed each month
  • Fixed issue where a document with only default “Transcription” tabs cannot have its transcripts exported
  • Fixed issue where a shared document exports would not show the correct tabs
  • Fixed issue where trying to transform a large number of images at once didn’t work as expected
  • Fixed issue where it is not possible to resize the columns of the dashboard table
  • Fixed issue where the search page’s metadata filter checkboxes did not function correctly
  • Fixed issue where a cropped image incorrectly inherits the primary tab name of its parent image, rather than having a single tab called “Transcription”
